Dear Quilting Friends,
As I write this in early December, the new year has not yet begun and already people are beginning to speculate what 2012 will bring. It is a time of uncertainty in a world that makes us feel a bit restless--one of those times when we could almost imagine we are living in a fairy tale, wishing for a knight on a white horse to come rescue us from the scary things lurking in the dark. At moments like this, when we are distracted by events in our lives over which we feel we have little control, having quilt making to turn to is particularly comforting and helpful. Sitting down with the pleasant feel of cloth in our hands and its rich colors spilling out around us helps us focus on things in our everyday lives that we can control and helps us remember what we can count on. Our love for fabric, color, pattern, and texture is a constant. Our pleasure in creating something beautiful from these ingredients is ongoing. We can always depend on nature to continue its promises and surprises. We know that winter will wane and spring will come soon be filled with the fragrance of early blooms, newborns, weddings and graduations to inspire a new quilt.
If you are new to quilt making, perhaps thinking about starting your first or maybe your second quilt, there is a class or even a book or pattern at The Quilter just for you.  Join a Block of the Month, learn a new technique, or come in and finish a project. No matter what is happening take time to make something for yourself.
